How to Stay Fit and Healthy During Summer

Summer is here and so are its effects. Summer means fun but many people forget to take care of their health which is very important especially during the summers. Scorching heat can have adverse effects on health in ways such as heat stroke, sunburn, and dehydration. The high-temperature weather drains off your energy and you may get prone to infections, vomiting, nausea and low blood pressure. Therefore there is a need for each one of us to take some precautions during the summer season.

Here are some ways to ensure that you stay fit during summer:

Avoid Fried Food

Excessive eating of fast foods during summer leads to loss of energy and enthusiasm as it might slow the digestion process. Moreover, it also affects our skin making it look unhealthy. High-cholesterol foods will lead to heart diseases. Instead of fried food, have coconut water, water-rich fruits, and veggies.

Reduce Coffee and Tea Intake

Coffee and tea contain caffeine which generates a lot of heat in the body. Drinking tea and coffee can disturb your metabolic system keeping you troubled though the day. So, try to avoid it as much as possible. Instead, you can go with iced lemon tea which will keep you active and cool.

Have a Healthy Diet

Having a healthy diet is very important during summer. You should eat regularly and also eat light food. Eating nutrient-rich vegetables and fruits will prove beneficial for you during summers. Include fruits rich in minerals and water content like watermelons, strawberries, oranges, lemons, as well as vegetables like lettuce, spinach, and cucumber. These foods will help you to keep your body refreshed all throughout the day.

Exercise and Meditate Daily

Try to do some light exercises during summers. You should do a lot of breathing exercises like inhaling and exhaling. This will help you to enhance your energy levels and help you stay active all throughout the day. Meditate for at least 10-15 minutes daily for self-awakening purposes, which helps you to keep your mind and body fresh.

Do not wear tight-fitting clothes

Avoid wearing skin tight clothes because it may disrupt circulation and cause discomfort. Wearing loose fitting and light colored cotton clothes help your body to keep cool by allowing heat to escape through your skin. This allows your blood to circulate freely too.

Maintain Good Hygiene

As we all know that in summer, people usually sweat a lot. So it is advised to take a bath at least twice a day in order to remove and prevent body odor. A daily shower helps you prevent the flu, common cold, and various infections. Also, don’t forget to use prickly heat powder and sunscreen when going outdoors.

Stay Hydrated

You should drink an adequate amount of water daily for your day-to-day activities. It is very important to stay hydrated during summers because the intense heat and sweat will make your body dehydrated. It is advised to drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. Keeping your body hydrated particularly helps to keep your heart healthy which facilitates easy pumping of blood to the blood vessels and to the muscles.

Spend more time this summer with friends and family and above all, be relaxed. Take corrective measures to overcome the harsh summer heat and avoid diseases. If you have to go out, cover yourself. Prepare a schedule to exercise and workout daily so as to stay active and healthy. Hit the gym 4-5 days in a week. Above all, enjoy the summer season with maximum happiness!
