If you’re an extremely busy person with very little time to cook, you’re not alone. Almost every household in this day and age suffers from food dilemmas caused by lack of time, and in some cases, lack of money too. Due to this, we end up consuming fast food and junk food to satisfy our hunger – and this is seriously bad for our health.
But don’t worry, it does not have to be like this. Even if you’re too busy, you have the right to eat healthily and you should be eating healthy. What appeals to most of us is food that is simple, convenient, healthy and affordable. But this combination is often hard to find. Let’s face it, many healthy foods are not affordable and convenient. And many simple and convenient foods are by no means healthy.
However, what if we tell you that there are actually foods that have all 4 of these characteristics – foods that are simple, convenient, healthy and affordable at the same time. Surprisingly, these are actually very common staples in our diet and can be found in almost every kitchen, but most of us fail to realize it.
If you’re always on the go and don’t have much time to cook, these 5 foods below will not only satisfy your hunger but also keep you full and save you energy. These 5 foods are absolutely perfect for people who are pressed for time and money but want to stay healthy.
Here we go:
Perhaps the easiest protein-rich food to cook, eggs are delicious and healthy at the same time. Moreover, you can buy a dozen for as cheap as two (2) dollars. Eggs are packed with healthy nutrients and eating them daily will keep you strong and healthy. Not to mention all the time and money you’ll save by including eggs in your diet.
Oatmeal can be prepared in less than five minutes and is an excellent source of fiber and good carbs. One bowl contains enough fuel to keep you full and energized for long periods. If you want something cheap and convenient for your carbs, oatmeal should be your go-to option!
If there was one fruit you could include in your busy-person diet, it should be banana. Studies have found that bananas are actually better than apples in keeping the doctor away. Better yet, they’re also one of the cheapest fruits (around 20 cents for 1 banana) you can buy and are very easy to eat as well. From now on, remember: A banana a day keeps the doctor away.
Milk is easily the most taken-for-granted item on this list. One glass of milk only costs around 40 cents and it provides sufficient calcium and protein which is needed by the body. Also, milk makes you feel full so you won’t be tempted to reach out for junk food. There’s a reason why for many ages, people have been reliant on milk to keep strong and healthy.
There’s no way this list would be complete without meat. And chicken breast is the cheapest and healthiest meat you can buy. Also, it does not take any culinary expertise to know how to properly cook chicken breasts. If you had to choose one meat option in your diet, chicken breast is an excellent option. BONUS: If you want to step up your health game, pair chicken breasts with broccoli for an even healthier meal.
To put it into context, you can actually live your entire life healthily by just eating these 5 foods and nothing else. Not that we’re expecting you to do that since it would be really boring. But you get the point; hopefully, now you know what foods to reach out to when you’re running out of time, but looking for something easy, affordable, and healthy.
